Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell like this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
