Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
US entertainer Finn, who was seen in popular TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by media reports.
"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a announcement.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Television Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
