Indeed, it's Brimming with Absurdity, Extreme Hosting and Self-Help Jargon. But I Do Adore Meghan's Christmas Special.

No matter the time of year, it's perpetually open season for criticism on the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Critics, expert and amateur alike, have seldom found such common ground as when enthusiastically shredding the program's initial installments to shreds. The general consensus held that a greater royal outrage had seldom occurred than the much-discussed pretzel re-packaging incident.

Now, as a festive rebel, she is back once again with a "Festive Special" (also known as a Christmas special). However on this occasion, the dynamic has changed. The usual elements audiences anticipate – psychobabble word salads, intense hospitality – remain, but set of a holiday show, the purpose becomes clear. The elements have slid perfectly; it's a perfect snow storm.

Now, Meghan has become the quirky relative at the typical holiday get-together – dispensing unsolicited, unnecessary advice, and delivering the odd random outburst. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's a bit of a character, but her presence is familiar and unexpectedly soothing. And she seems pleased; she's not doing the slightest hurt.

She understands her all subtle gestures, word and glance will be picked apart and judged, but still appears carefree and serenely untroubled.

It could be this is the first occasion in history where that old chestnut – "Pay no mind, it's only envy" – might be true. Because, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration truly is delightful. Yes, it's all cringily ultra-extra, nonsense and extravagant – but is that not just what the holiday season is about? And the advice she gives might be ridiculous, but the example she sets seems authentically beautifully curated.

Whatever she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she pulls off with panache. Her cooking looks delicious, the festive decoration she creates is gorgeous, her presents are practically too exquisite to tear into. Not a single thing is average or aesthetically displeasing – including the way she secures her apron is creative and fashionable. She doesn't toss a meal in the microwave, it "has a moment", and she wraps wrapping paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be genuinely relishing herself throughout. How could any skeptical viewer not be convinced, bursting with seasonal cheer and left with a deep longing for crafted festive snaps or a vegetable display where broccoli is positioned in the shape of a festive circle?

Meghan used to pretend for a living, of course, but despite that, after the level of attention she has weathered since she became involved with Prince Harry, the love child of two legendary actresses would have difficulty behaving this genuinely. Her decision to alter or even moderate her routine, even though it being so constantly, internationally ridiculed, is strangely reassuring. In our volatile world, here is one thing we can depend on: Meghan will be like this, come what may. We will consistently know what to expect with her.

If you're still not buying what she's selling, a thought that will certainly come as a reassurance: you aren't required to. There isn't mandatory conscription in this country, and should it be reinstated, it would be doubtful to include streaming With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, on the other hand, you willingly check it out and are overcome with jealousy about her flawless Christmas, you can take solace either. Whether you're a duchess or a data administrator, few children fully understands the effort and hard work their mum expends in December. So you can take heart by imagining Archie and Lilibet's faces when they unfold a handwritten message that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, rather than a chocolate.
