Supporters Urge Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barricade and touched the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Fans Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another message on Instagram.
A number of fans also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of attendees had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a dual version of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the surprising relationship between two distinct characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
