Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the globally famous video game Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in the state of California aged 55.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The influential game designer passed away following his automobile collided and burst into flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, according to.

"We are facing a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his work," an official with Electronic Arts said.
